WWF In Your House

If you're into wrestling, and you're still into the WWF,
you'll probably want to check this game out.

Publisher: Acclaim
Developer: Sculptured
Genre: Fighting

Even though WCW is now the premiere wrestling league in the US, Acclaim is sticking solidly by the WWF, with their latest wrestling title.

Last year's game was originally developed by Williams, but this year Acclaim and Sculptured have decided to join forces. The result? A somewhat mixed bag, but overall, a pretty good game.

The moves and fun of 2D wrestling are still there, but it seemed like it was smoother last year with Wrestlemania. Instead, Sculptured has gone for an update of backgrounds and combat styles.

A nice effort, but does playing in a barn yard really beat playing in front of a jam packed arena? Or are they trying to tell us that the wrestlers the WWF has left can only draw enough people to fill a barn, not Madison Square Garden.

While the game still has the moves, the WWF doesn't have the wrestlers, and the whole thing just seems to fall short. Still, for two players, this is a pretty fun game, and Sculptured's engine provides a fun change from the usual "Kombat."

Bottom line: If you're into wrestling, and you're still into the WWF, you'll probably want to check this game out. If you don't fit into that category, stop by your local video store before you rid yourself of your hard earned cash.
