Street Fighter Collection

Capcom comes through with a classic

Publisher: Capcom
Developer: Capcom
Genre: Action

Capcom revives classic characters in their new Street Fighter Saturn title. It's something old and something new. It's Street Fighter Collection.

What do you get for one low price? Two discs: one containing both Super Street Fighter II and Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and the other, Street Fighter Alpha II Gold. SFA2Gold is a slightly modified Alpha II that tweaks the character balance and includes a new "one-on-one with Akuma" mode.

If anything, Street Fighter Collection shows how incredibly playable the original series is after all these years and SF incarnations/improvements. Some of you may scoff, but Street Fighter fans will definitely agree: Super Street Fighter II is still amazingly fun to play. Heck, when was the last time you pitted Blanka vs. Balrog?

Some may say that the hook to Street Fighter Collection is Alpha II Gold. We say it has to be the Super Street Fighter series. It's been a long time, but the classic still plays like a champ. And the Saturn version is, apart from the small load times, perfect. Right down to the exact button layout on the Saturn pad.

Street Fighter Alpha II Gold isn't anything to scoff at, either. Unfortunately, if you already own Street Fighter Alpha II you're not going to find a whole lot of new stuff.

On the whole, though, this is a great Street Fighter collection for Street Fighter collectors. It's a little disappointing that they didn't include the original Street Fighter II through Street Fighter II Turbo on the disc (or did they? Hmm...), but Super Street Fighter II is an acceptable starting point.
