Fade To Black

It may not be the best graphic adventure, but Fade To Black can hold its own

Fade To Black is the latest in the ever-growing series of second-person graphic adventures, Resident Evil being the most popular (and arguably the best).

For the most part, Fade To Black plays very well. The camera does have the bad habit of panning and zooming a little erratically, especially when your character has his back against a wall, and can be disorienting at times. Also, when your character ducks the camera insists on switching to a side-perspective, which can be confusing, especially when there s an enemy that you can t see anymore.

Overall, the control scheme is simple enough, and the character responds well. The pace is fast and most of the puzzles are fairly straightforward. One drawback is that the enemy AI is almost a little too good - you tend to die a lot. You also have to manually save the game as you go, which can be a little maddening. In the end, Fade To Black is a solid graphic adventure with far more to recommend it than not.
